Their Love Story

How did you meet?

We have been friends for eight + years, I was living in Tasmania and Ben here in South Australia. We reconnected via Facebook a few of years ago. Only 8 months into our relationship, I knew he was the one – work offered me a transfer to SA, so I made the move and the rest they say is history…

How did he pop the big question?

It wasn’t a surprise at all… Ben is terrible at keeping secrets. We actually had a false start… Ben was placing little notes around the house, and I found a bottle of Moët in the fridge and knew something was going on.

So… he regathered his thoughts and proposed a week later at Windy Point lookout. He packed a little picnic with all my favourite things – cheese, wine and of course my fur baby. Knowing how important family is to me – Ben incorporated our parents love stories in to the proposal. We were overlooking the Racecourse – which is where my parents met, and Ben’s parents had their first date at the Windy Point restaurant. They both have beautiful marriages filled with love and laughter, everything we hope for in ours.

Wedding Fever

Tell us about your wedding style?

We (or I mostly), wanted a timeless but relaxed vibe for our wedding.

What was the most memorable part of your day?

The Speeches – we laughed, we cried and were reminded of how blessed we are by our friends and family.

What was the most challenging part of planning your wedding?

The guest list – getting down to what we thought was our “ideal number” was impossible, we have beautiful friends and family scattered around Australia (and the world)! We had 30 more than originally planned… whoops!

Where did you honeymoon?

Italy & Qatar! We spent three weeks across Rome, Florence, Venice & Doha. We fell in love with Florence – ohhh the shopping!!

What does marriage mean to you?

I’ve found my partner in life. As human beings I don’t believe we are meant to do life alone – I found the one I want to share all the big and little, happy and sad things with!

Any advice you can give to future brides and grooms planning their wedding?

Don’t sweat the small stuff – you really don’t notice it on the day!!!! Choose vendors that know their sh*t, and that you can laugh with too.

They make it an easy process!

Love Notes

Working with Sharni was an absolute dream. The thing I loved most was that she had a clear vision of style and silhouette, the most challenging part of the gown was the heavily beaded fabric combined with luxe blush silk satin. Getting the two to work together was near on impossible, but it finally did and it has become my most favourite gown to create this year. I loved working with you Sharni, you made work so easy! PS - Im still finding beads everywhere!!
