Wedding Date: 3rd November 2018

Their Love Story

How did you meet?
Despite both growing up in country SA, it wasn’t until 2013 where Joel and I met at a friends house party. He had just been thrown into the pool by mates and was only wearing a Mexican-style poncho when we got introduced. Regardless of this, we hit it off! I think it was his sense of humour and care-free nature that attracted me from the get go.

How did he pop the big question?

In true Joel style he caught me totally off guard on a quiet Saturday morning. For his proposal he created a silly little rap about us and all the things he loved about me. It was very funny and sweet and ended with ‘will you marry me’. He then planned a long lunch at Fino restaurant in Seppeltsfield.

Wedding Fever

Where did you draw inspiration from?
Being a Graphic Designer and familiar with the industry I drew a lot of inspiration from other weddings. Instagram and Pinterest played a huge part in helping me moodboard and create the theme for our wedding day.

Tell us about your wedding style?

I would say it was modern and stylish but not too over the top. We kept our colour palette to whites, greys, light wood and gold tones which was complemented by our venue. Waverley Estate also has the gorgeous swimming pool which acted as a main feature for our reception area. We had a large clear marquee set up next to the pool which lit up beautifully at night and created a really unique backdrop.

What was the most memorable part of your day?
It's so hard to choose - everything was so perfect! Stepping out to Rocky Bay just the two of us for photos allowed us to have a moment to ourselves before the reception. It made for some of our favourite photos, but it was also just special to have the time out for the two of us.

What was the most challenging part of planning your wedding?
Although our venue was stunning, it essentially was a blank canvas meaning we had to organise absolutely everything ourself. From catering, staff and alcohol, to the marquee, furniture, cutlery and glassware - it had to be hired. That plus having over 200 guests definitely added a lot of extra stress in the planning of our wedding. We were lucky we had amazing suppliers that went above and beyond to help put together our big day!

Where did you honeymoon?
USA, Canda and Mexico.

What does marriage mean to you?

Finding that special someone who you can’t imagine your life without. Someone who you know will be by your side no matter what.

Any advice you can give to future brides and grooms planning their wedding?
Don’t get caught up in everything you see on social media in the planning of your wedding! Stay true to what is important to you and most importantly take in every minute of your special day!
